A Year and A Day was begun on the long drive back to Orlando, FL from Nashville, TN with the single line of, “You wouldn’t be behaving this way if we were back home!” and the concept of angels living on earth among humans.  This concept graced my first attempt at a novel at age 14, which didn’t really make it to the editing stages.

The story began to take shape as a series of related short stories that later evolved into more cohesive chapters that showed “a day in the life” of this unlikely pair, Vengeance and Joy, as they tried very hard to “blend in” among the wacky mortals of New York City’s East Village.

At first, Julian, Vengeance’s chosen human name, believes he is just there to babysit Joy, who calls herself “Eponine” after the character in Les Miserables. But slowly he begins to realize that the mission has more to do with him that he thought.

With a world filled with chaos, war, and revenge, the Angel of Vengeance has begun to go mad.  And what that spells for humanity is terrifying.  Only the light and love of Joy can save him, but is she up to the task?

In a city like New York, miracles happen everyday and Divinity still walks among the crowds of people.  There is no better place than that to try and save the world through the lost soul of one angel.
